Every Costume Designers Dream Movies And Series.

I have always paid attention to clothes in movies and sometimes I think I pay more attention to the costume designer than the director! Every now and then I watch a movie and say, ”I would have loved to have been the costume designer for that film” and so I thought I would share my list on here, in no particular order.

How To Maintain A (Somewhat) Healthy Lifestyle As A Student!

So going to university probably means, more drinking, take outs and a messed up sleeping pattern, coupled with no spare time. Hence, it is natural to put on weight in your first year and I would say that your happiness and social life should be your priority in your first year! However, I know for me that I let my ‘healthy lifestyle’ relax for the first few months but when I started to feel sluggish and unfit I struggled to feel confident when I went out. I managed to turn it around relatively quickly so that now I am fitter and stronger than ever and I am very happy with my lifestyle and it is still easy and student friendly to maintain. Hope these tips help you.

  1. Online workouts.

If like me you can not afford a gym, everyday I do some YouTube workouts. I do one for arms, abs and butt. Then for cardio, I either do a circuit consisting of jumping jacks, skipping and burpees or I go for a run. I love blogalaties personally and emi wong.

2. Ditch Fizzy Drinks Every Other Week.

Let water be your new best friend.

3. Choose Your Alcohol Wisely.

Perhaps mix your drinks with juice instead of fizzy drinks and avoid wine and beer and stick to spirits.

4. Walk Everywhere.

5. Sports Societies

An obvious.

6. Don’t buy junk food in multipacks.

By this I mean, when you do your weekly shop, don’t buy junk foods that will take you a while too get through because then you will be having say one of those chocolate bars or packets of crisps everyday. If you are desperate for junk food you will have to walk to a shop and only buy one packet to curb your craving then and there.

7. Add A Fruit Or Vegetable To Every Meal.

Bananas and apples will last longer then berries.

Hope this helped!

Romwe Review.

So I had looked on the Romwe website a few times prior to ordering from them, however I always thought it quite expensive to be honest and I wasn’t sure whether I would be hit with custom charges. Not to mention, the horror stories about forgotten orders and poor quality.

Nevertheless, I decided to order from there a coupe weeks ago because they were having a sale and the items I ordered were extremely cheap.

First of all, my order took about three weeks to arrive so make sure you are not in a hurry for your clothing! I was a bit annoyed with how long it was taking to arrive but I don’t think you pay a lot for post, hence it is not a priority.

When it did arrive, it was in a plain package but perfectly reasonable. All my items arrived and they packaged well in separate plastic bags.

I ordered:

  • star stickers (to decorate my uni room) they were £1.
  • Clear Glasses (they even came in a glasses case with a cloth) £4.
  • Earrings (They were a set of stars and lightening bolts) £1.
  • Black Face t-shirt. £5.
  • Black clots. £8
  • Red Playsuit £8 (sent back)
  • Pink dress £10.50 (sent back)

Romwe

I was only disappointed with three products.

The black t-shirt was very nice but I ordered a size large and I would say it was the size of a small. I am slim and it is only a little bit loose on me.

The red playsuit was okay for fit but the material just felt really cheap and I suppose it was. Plus, the colour was dull red not bright like on the website.

The pink dress again was ok but the fit was baggy and not great quality.

The clots however I am very happy with, they do have some frayed edges but for £8 they are great.

To return items you have to pay yourself and the instructions on the website are not clear at all. I sent the items back a few weeks ago and I have only just received an email to tell me one of the items I sent back has been received.

Overall, I would not order from Romwe any time soon again and if I did, I wouldn’t order clothing as I don’t think the quality is worth it and I would probably just have to send them back.

Hope this helped!

What To Wear: House Party Edition!

I have a house party next week and I only know like three people going (one includes the Birthday girl), so I don’t really know what other people wear to house parties as I have only ever seen what my friends wear. Plus the theme is colourful and I certainly knew I had nothing to wear as most of my wardrobe is monoreme, although it does mean I have a new excuse to buy an outfit. These are some of my ideas.

  1. A Colourful Co-ord. Comfort is key!

Rebellious Co ord. £31.99

I think this would be good for a comfortable approach. Personally I don’t think house parties are that dressy because you don’t need to wear heals all night and you aren’t actually going anywhere. Plus you will probably be sat on the floor at some point so trousers are always a practical option.

2. Fancy Pants.

Again with the trouser option, but this time I like the idea of statement trousers but a simple top.

Rebellious Stripe Trousers. £29.99

4. Cute In Pink.

For those who don’t want to be in a bright stand out colour or for those who want to go girly.

Pink Co ord. £17.99

5. Simple But Classy.

I saw It First Playsuit

£25

This is for those who want to look killer but simple. A little sexy but also super practical for a house party. You could always dress it down with flat shoes.

My Experience Being An Extra In A Netflix Series.

Last summer I was an extra in ‘Safe’, a  Netflix original series.

Safe is a British television drama mini-series created by crime author Harlan Coben. Set in England, the series is a co-production between Canal+ and Netflix, with C8 airing the show in France, and Netflix streaming the show internationally outside France. The series began filming in Manchester, Liverpool and Cheshire in July 2017. It consists of eight episodes that premiered in 190 countries on 10 May 2018.

Safe focuses on Englishman Tom Delaney (Hall), a paediatric surgeon and widowed father of two teenage daughters. He is struggling to connect to his daughters as they still grieve the loss of his wife from cancer one year prior. After his 16-year-old daughter Jenny goes missing, Tom ends up uncovering a web of secrets as he frantically searches for her.

The location I filmed in was Liverpool train station, the yellow line specifically. Firstly, we were taken upon arrival to a trailer where all the extras sat and were provided with lunch, I was basically getting paid to eat very nice catered food! I met two girls who were around my age and talked for a while. I do remember waiting around for agggeeessssss! It is a very slow process.

Later we went to the dressing room. This is where they will dress you but for this shoot we were all in casual or work clothes as we were in a train station. We had to bring a few different outfits for this and the stylist picked the most appropriate ones.

Once we were taken over to the actual train station, we were again provided with tea and biscuits and again waited for ages in a cold train station. This was cool though because you get too see all the directors, runners and equipment. It wasn’t until it was my turn to shoot that I realised the main actors in Safe were Michael C Hall and Marc Warren. I knew them from Dexter and Doctor Who.

For the actual shoot, we had to spread out along the platform and step on the train (which was open too the public) and the turn around and step off the train and walk down the platform, towards the camera whilst the actors around us did their part. Very easy but hard to act natural when you are told too. I was happy to do it in a pair with a nice girl I had met.

Marc+Warren+Sundance+London+Farming+Screening+Co_4X9LCHO_l

That was my part over, although whilst waiting some more, I got to see one of the actors scene, as well as the confused public.

It finished at around 11pm and I got paid around £80 for the day, which basically involved free food, meeting people, experience and waiting around.

Mercury Prize Albums of the Year, London, UK - 15 Sep 2016

I would definitely recommend being an extra, it is easy additional money and great experience. It was perfect for me as I am not interested in acting but I am interested in the work behind the scenes and it made me even more interested.

Hope you enjoyed this post!
