Another Week At University…

Busy week!!!

Whilst this week was busy, I don’t actually think I did much work unfortunately but that shouldn’t surprise anyone.

On Tuesday night I had to go back home to Manchester to get a blood test. Thankfully, my journey wasn’t the hell it normally is due to Northern rail. I went back to university on Wednesday. Thankfully I discovered that I am able to work quite well on trains so I don’t feel like I am completely wasting my time. However, I was tired when I got back to the house and did no work for the rest of the night.

I had my first actual seminar of the year and it was just as awkward as they used to be. I didn’t say anything because I had no idea what was going on. Seminars are the bane of my life at university.

In terms of exercise, me and Ceara thought we could run up a hill behind our house and then do exercise on top of it. However, we died half way up the hill, it really didn’t look as steep as it was! Will not be doing that again!

Saturday, I was quite productive work wise during the day time. In the evening our house went out for Indian food which was lovely. Then we called at our friends house party for her 20th birthday and ended up on a bar crawl. Plus, a guy in Tesco managed to flirt with both me and Ceara at the same time and we both fell for it. I don’t know how anyone can be that smooth but I will give him the credit, very smooth.

Busy week but not much work done, I should probably start taking second year seriously!!

Today, (Sunday) will probably consist of taking Instagram pics, working (hopefully) and making he girls (Ann and Ceara) fajitas.

My First Week As A Second Year At University.

Honestly, the first two days were shit. This wasn’t due to any particular reason, it was just overwhelming to hear about essay deadlines and the fact I have seminars every week. I’m still not feeling that motivated to do any work and it’s not because I have no work, I think the prospect of all the work I have to do this term is overwhelming.

I have had one seminar so far, in which I found out I will have to do two presentations and the people in my group had already started reading!! Why do people do reading before hand? How do they know what the topic is about?

As usual though, the non work side of uni I really enjoyed. I went out on Tuesday because I was already done with the week. On Wednesday I went to my friends house for dinner and on Thursday I went to a rugby taster session and to my surprise I actually enjoyed it. I was shocking at catching the ball but I was lifted into the air (and panicked) but it was fun.

Friday night, I think I’m going to have noodles for dinner and potentially go out, not for too late though as I have actual seminars next week where reading has to be done.

On Saturday, we are have a house party for our college kids, hopefully that will be fun and I’m sure Sunday will be a recovery day.

How To Maintain A (Somewhat) Healthy Lifestyle As A Student!

So going to university probably means, more drinking, take outs and a messed up sleeping pattern, coupled with no spare time. Hence, it is natural to put on weight in your first year and I would say that your happiness and social life should be your priority in your first year! However, I know for me that I let my ‘healthy lifestyle’ relax for the first few months but when I started to feel sluggish and unfit I struggled to feel confident when I went out. I managed to turn it around relatively quickly so that now I am fitter and stronger than ever and I am very happy with my lifestyle and it is still easy and student friendly to maintain. Hope these tips help you.

  1. Online workouts.

If like me you can not afford a gym, everyday I do some YouTube workouts. I do one for arms, abs and butt. Then for cardio, I either do a circuit consisting of jumping jacks, skipping and burpees or I go for a run. I love blogalaties personally and emi wong.

2. Ditch Fizzy Drinks Every Other Week.

Let water be your new best friend.

3. Choose Your Alcohol Wisely.

Perhaps mix your drinks with juice instead of fizzy drinks and avoid wine and beer and stick to spirits.

4. Walk Everywhere.

5. Sports Societies

An obvious.

6. Don’t buy junk food in multipacks.

By this I mean, when you do your weekly shop, don’t buy junk foods that will take you a while too get through because then you will be having say one of those chocolate bars or packets of crisps everyday. If you are desperate for junk food you will have to walk to a shop and only buy one packet to curb your craving then and there.

7. Add A Fruit Or Vegetable To Every Meal.

Bananas and apples will last longer then berries.

Hope this helped!

What To Wear: House Party Edition!

I have a house party next week and I only know like three people going (one includes the Birthday girl), so I don’t really know what other people wear to house parties as I have only ever seen what my friends wear. Plus the theme is colourful and I certainly knew I had nothing to wear as most of my wardrobe is monoreme, although it does mean I have a new excuse to buy an outfit. These are some of my ideas.

  1. A Colourful Co-ord. Comfort is key!

Rebellious Co ord. £31.99

I think this would be good for a comfortable approach. Personally I don’t think house parties are that dressy because you don’t need to wear heals all night and you aren’t actually going anywhere. Plus you will probably be sat on the floor at some point so trousers are always a practical option.

2. Fancy Pants.

Again with the trouser option, but this time I like the idea of statement trousers but a simple top.

4. Cute In Pink.

For those who don’t want to be in a bright stand out colour or for those who want to go girly.

Pink Co ord. £17.99

5. Simple But Classy.

I saw It First Playsuit

£25

This is for those who want to look killer but simple. A little sexy but also super practical for a house party. You could always dress it down with flat shoes.

Autumn Recipes.

One reason why autumn is my favourite time of year is thanks too the food at this time of year. Whilst I am not good in the kitchen at all, most of these do not need talent and to be honest, my favourite autumn foods are comfort foods which are ready made.

The Unusual A/W 2018 Colour: Yellow!

Yellow has always been associated with summer and the heat, definitely not the typical winter pallet. However, this year yellow is making a autumn appearance in all clothing pieces.

Looking at the new in high-street clothes it would appear yellow fits perfectly into winter in a bizarre way. After all, why limit certain colours to specific times of year? Whilst mustard is a typical autumnal colour, bright yellow is new this year and I love it.

Here are some of my favourite yellow pieces from high-street stores. Yellow may be a scary colour too some but I think a statement yellow piece doesn’t hurt anyone. Either go all out or a subtle hint, you will look so cute and on trend. That is why I have included a range for everyone.

  1. Primark

I am definitely a Primark lover. These pieces are absolutely perfect. Either a bright yellow jumper for those who love a bright, splash of colour or a more subtle touch of yellow in a simple stripe jeans or yellow piping on a jumper. I love he subtle yellow more personally. I have the yellow check jumpsuit from Primark (same print as the trousers on the model) and I love the yellow detail.

2. Topshop.

Whilst this skirt is not for the faint hearted I do think this is easily an autumn piece. Check print is also making an appearance this autumn so a two in one piece is perfect.

3. Boohoo.

A more affordable brand than Topshop, try Boohoo. These wide leg trousers are available in multiple colours and are only £!2! On a night out, these trousers will be perfect, a little more covered up but still dressed up with heals.

3. I Saw It First.

This is an upcoming brand and I have already ordered from here and was pleasantly surprised. They do this bum bag in yellow leopard print which, as well as being ideal for festivals it will be ideal for a night out! Just a subtle hint of yellow in your accessories will be a good starting point to wearing yellow.

4. New Look.

I am a huge fan of this jumpsuit. How nice would this look with a big black jacket and an oversized scarf! An easy piece that instantly makes you look put together. This jumpsuit is also available in other (more boring) colours and is only £19.99.

5. ASOS

Now this I personally think is amazing and for a statement coat is actually very reasonably priced at £80. I think this would be a lovely work coat, why not brighten up the office? I also think coats like this are great conversation starters and are a piece that you will receive a lot of compliments with.

I hope you enjoyed this very yellow post! Will you be implementing yellow into your wardrobe this autumn winter?
